 Technical Characterization Technician


Field technician to support characterization and NDA programs. Please note that this position is contingent upon available funding.

Key Responsibilities

Position will require sampling of all types of environmental media including, but not limited to, metal, coupons, oil, and potentially hazardous materials. This will require interfacing with multiple support groups. Position will require field measurements with both neutron and gamma detectors to ensure that measurements comply with Data Quality Objectives to meet customer needs. Support for both insitu/containerized measurement characterization to include process piping and components will be required. Position will also require laboratory maintenance, shipping/receiving of samples, and inventory of M&TE.

Position will require work in an environmental restoration atmosphere (outdated and/or abandoned facilities). Position will require the employee to wear a respirator and other protective equipment the majority of each workday. Ability to perform sedentary to light work, as well as performing such activities as lifting, lowering, carrying, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, grasping, kneeling, stooping, reaching. Ability to perform primary office duties including heavy computer usage.

Minimum Skills, Experience, and Required Qualifications

• Must be a citizen of the United States.
• Able to pass a drug screen, physical exam, and background check.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
• Strong work ethic, good decision-making skills, dependability, willingness to accept responsibility, and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and as a strong, effective team player.
• Flexible in adapting and responding to changing situations.
• 40 Hour HAZWOPER training a plus.
• Previous technical experience a plus.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

• This position is a full-time, exempt role.
• Position requires Monday – Thursday, 10-hour days with the availability and dependability to work additional days as requested.
